LONDON, UK – June 2026 – 1936 has co-led a funding round into Sports Eye, the automated video capture platform for surf parks and ski resorts, alongside Linkin Capital. The round also included Bode Miller, one of the most successful alpine ski racers in history, Pau Serracanta, former Managing Director of Dorna Sports and a shareholder in Wavegarden, and other strategic and venture investors.
Using fixed 6K cameras and computer vision, the platform tracks and films multiple athletes at once, edits each clip automatically, and delivers it to the guest’s phone. It is already established in surf, where its Surf Eye network covers more than 20 venues and holds a strategic partnership with Wavegarden, the world leader in surf park technology. Its Snow Eye platform now brings the same model to the mountain, and is installed at four resorts across Europe and the United States, supporting race programmes and public skiing.
“Surf parks proved that automated video can become a core part of the guest experience and a key new revenue driver,” said Alessandro Fracassi, Co-Founder and CEO of Sports Eye. “We believe the same thing will happen in snow. In the near future, every premium ski resort will offer guests high-quality videos and analytics of their best moments on the mountain.”
“Video has always been one of the most powerful tools in skiing, for coaching, progression, media value, and memories,” said Bode Miller, an investor in the round. “Snow Eye is making high-quality video possible at scale, not just for elite athletes, but for everyday skiers and resorts around the world. I’m excited to be backing this team.”
“Skiing has been ripe for innovation on the tech and content side for a long time,” said Charlie Raposo, Founder and CEO of 1936. “I’m incredibly excited to see this team transform the way consumers use content of themselves skiing, and to see them make a real impact for venues and operators with revenue that has inherently never existed. They have already revolutionised content in the surf pool world. Now it’s time for the mountains.”
Unlike traditional filming, the system handles multiple athletes in the same scene, and provides run analytics and digital timing for race programmes without physical timing sensors or dedicated trackers for every guest. Each deployment is built around the venue’s own goals, from direct-to-guest video sales and premium packages to ski school integration, race programmes, coaching tools, sponsorship and branded content.
