LONDON, UK – 14th October, 2026 – 1936, the global sports and entertainment investment and operating platform, today announced its public launch. Founded by former British World Cup alpine ski racer Charlie Raposo and backed by some of the world’s leading family offices, 1936 invests in and operates alongside the businesses, properties, brands and talent shaping the future of sport, media and entertainment.
1936’s focus gives the team a clear view across the whole value chain of sport. Its first investments are in the Superfile Trackhouse MotoGP Team, ROCKWOOL Racing in SailGP, and Sports Eye, the AI video capture platform for surf parks and ski resorts. It also works with a select group of brand and talent clients.
“I always enjoyed the business side of sport as much as the sporting side,” said Charlie Raposo, Founder and CEO of 1936. “Time and time again I saw a disconnect between the commercial verticals in the industry, and I built 1936 to connect them. We operate everywhere sport creates value, and we’re off to a great start.”
Raposo brings 20 years of experience from inside sport, as an athlete and an operator. 1936 is now building out a wider team to grow its capabilities.
The name comes from the postcode of Verbier, Switzerland, where Raposo first put on skis, giving credit to his athletic career that shaped his drive and resilience that carries through to his vision for 1936.
